स्वच्छ और सुरक्षित कुकिंग ईंधन की पहुंच बढ़ाने के लिए, सरकार ने देश भर में घरेलू पीएनजी कनेक्शन को बढ़ावा देने हेतु 'सिटी गैस डिस्ट्रीब्यूशन' (CGD) कंपनियों के लिए एक नई प्रोत्साहन योजना को मंजूरी दी है।

पेट्रोलियम और प्राकृतिक गैस मंत्रालय (Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas) के माध्यम से सरकार ने 'घरेलू पीएनजी कनेक्शन को बढ़ावा देने के लिए एक प्रोत्साहन योजना' को आधिकारिक मंजूरी दे दी है। अगले महीने की 1 तारीख से प्रभावी होने वाली इस योजना का उद्देश्य देश भर के घरों में स्वच्छ, सुरक्षित और किफायती 'पाइप्ड कुकिंग गैस' पहुंचाना है।
🔥 PNG प्रोत्साहन योजना के मुख्य बिंदु:
- वर्तमान स्थिति: वर्तमान में देश भर में लगभग 1.74 करोड़ घरेलू पीएनजी (PNG) कनेक्शन हैं। यह योजना सक्रिय कनेक्शनों के विस्तार को तेज करने और नए क्षेत्रों तक नेटवर्क को पहुंचाने के लिए डिज़ाइन की गई है।
- CGD कंपनियों को प्रोत्साहन: यह योजना 'सिटी गैस डिस्ट्रीब्यूशन' (CGD) कंपनियों को गैर-बिल वाले कनेक्शनों को चालू कनेक्शनों में बदलने के लिए सीधे तौर पर प्रोत्साहित करती है। इसके तहत, हर नए बिल वाले कनेक्शन के लिए CGD संस्थाओं को घरेलू स्तर पर उत्पादित 200 स्टैंडर्ड क्यूबिक मीटर सस्ती गैस अतिरिक्त रूप से आवंटित की जाएगी।
- कार्यान्वयन: प्रदर्शन की व्यवस्थित निगरानी के लिए इस योजना को छह महीने की अवधि में दो चरणों (tranches) में लागू किया जाएगा।
- लागत में कमी (Cost Efficiency): यह अतिरिक्त घरेलू गैस आवंटन उस महंगी आयातित एलएनजी (LNG) की जगह लेगा, जिसे CGD कंपनियां वर्तमान में अपने सीएनजी (CNG) परिवहन खंड के लिए खरीदती हैं। इससे उनकी समग्र गैस-सोर्सिंग लागत कम हो जाएगी।

पाइप्ड नेचुरल गैस (PNG) पारंपरिक एलपीजी सिलेंडरों (LPG) का एक अधिक सुरक्षित, स्वच्छ और सुविधाजनक विकल्प है। घरेलू पीएनजी बुनियादी ढांचे को आक्रामक रूप से बढ़ावा देकर, सरकार न केवल सिलेंडर वितरण के रसद बोझ (logistical burden) को कम कर रही है, बल्कि भारत के प्राथमिक ऊर्जा मिश्रण (energy mix) में प्राकृतिक गैस की हिस्सेदारी बढ़ाने के अपने रणनीतिक लक्ष्य की दिशा में भी एक बड़ी छलांग लगा रही है।

The Government, through the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has officially approved an Incentive Scheme for the Promotion of Domestic PNG Connections. Set to be effective from the 1st of next month, this scheme aims to bring clean, safe, and highly affordable piped cooking gas to households across India.
🔥 Key Highlights of the PNG Incentive Scheme:
- Current Infrastructure: India currently has around 1.74 crore Domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections. This scheme is designed to fast-track the expansion of active connections and reach unserved areas.
- Incentivizing CGD Entities: The scheme directly incentivises City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies to actively convert unbilled connections into working ones. Under this, eligible entities will be allocated an additional 200 Standard Cubic Meters of domestically-produced, lower-priced gas for every incremental billed connection achieved.
- Implementation Strategy: The scheme will be strictly implemented over two distinct tranches spanning a period of six months to systematically monitor performance.
- Cost Efficiency: The additional domestic gas allocation will effectively substitute the costlier imported Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) that CGD entities currently procure for their CNG transport segment, ultimately lowering their overall gas-sourcing costs.

Piped Natural Gas (PNG) offers a significantly safer, cleaner, and more convenient alternative to traditional LPG cylinders. By aggressively promoting domestic PNG infrastructure, the government is not only reducing the logistical burden of cylinder distribution but is also taking a massive leap toward its strategic goal of increasing the share of natural gas in India's primary energy mix.
