तीसरे IIMA हेल्थकेयर समिट 2026 को संबोधित करते हुए, केंद्रीय मंत्री अनुप्रिया पटेल ने कहा कि भारत को अब AI, आरएंडडी (R&D) और PRIP योजना के माध्यम से "दुनिया की फार्मेसी" से आगे बढ़कर "दुनिया की प्रयोगशाला" के रूप में उभरना चाहिए।

आईआईएम अहमदाबाद (IIMA) में तीसरे हेल्थकेयर समिट 2026 (थीम: "हेल्थकेयर में AI को आगे बढ़ाना") को संबोधित करते हुए, केंद्रीय मंत्री अनुप्रिया पटेल ने कहा कि भारत को अब "दुनिया की फार्मेसी" (Pharmacy of the World) की अपनी पहचान से आगे बढ़ना चाहिए। अनुसंधान, नवाचार और AI जैसी उभरती प्रौद्योगिकियों द्वारा संचालित होकर भारत को "दुनिया की प्रयोगशाला" (Laboratory of the World) के रूप में उभरना चाहिए।
🧬 AI और स्वास्थ्य सेवा के मुख्य बिंदु:
- AI की परिवर्तनकारी क्षमता: आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस (AI) नई दवाओं की खोज में तेजी ला सकता है, व्यक्तिगत उपचार (personalized treatment) को सक्षम कर सकता है और रोग निगरानी व नैदानिक निर्णय लेने में काफी सुधार कर सकता है।
- नैतिक और मानव-केंद्रित AI: मंत्री ने जोर देकर कहा कि AI को अपनाना सुरक्षित, जिम्मेदार और मानव-केंद्रित होना चाहिए, जिसमें रोगी की गोपनीयता की पूरी सुरक्षा हो। AI को मानवीय नैदानिक निर्णय (human clinical judgment) की जगह लेने के बजाय उसके पूरक (complement) के रूप में कार्य करना चाहिए।
- AI उत्कृष्टता केंद्र: पायलट परियोजनाओं से आगे बढ़कर बड़े पैमाने पर AI लागू करने के लिए सरकार ने एम्स नई दिल्ली, पीजीआईएमईआर (PGIMER) चंडीगढ़ और एम्स ऋषिकेश में स्वास्थ्य सेवा में 'AI उत्कृष्टता केंद्र' (Centres of Excellence) स्थापित किए हैं।
- PRIP योजना (PRIP Scheme): उन्होंने 5,000 करोड़ रुपये की 'PRIP' योजना पर भी प्रकाश डाला। इसका उद्देश्य फार्मा और मेडटेक (Pharma-MedTech) क्षेत्र में अनुसंधान को मजबूत करना तथा नवाचार-आधारित विकास के लिए उद्योग-अकादमिक सहयोग का समर्थन करना है।
🚀 वैश्विक 'वैल्यू चेन' में आगे बढ़ना
जेनेरिक दवाओं में भारत के दबदबे ने इसे 'फार्मेसी' का खिताब दिलाया, लेकिन वैश्विक मूल्य श्रृंखला (value chain) में ऊपर उठने के लिए कोर अनुसंधान और विकास (R&D) की ओर भारी बदलाव की आवश्यकता है। अत्याधुनिक AI को एकीकृत करके और मेडटेक नवाचारों को फंड देकर, भारत रणनीतिक रूप से खुद को अग्रणी चिकित्सा विज्ञान के प्राथमिक केंद्र के रूप में स्थापित कर रहा है।

Addressing the 3rd edition of the IIMA Healthcare Summit 2026 (Theme: "Advancing AI in Healthcare"), Union Minister Anupriya Patel asserted that India must move beyond its established identity as the "Pharmacy of the World" and rapidly emerge as the "Laboratory of the World," driven by robust research, innovation, and emerging technologies like AI.
🧬 Key Highlights on AI & Healthcare:
- Transformative Potential of AI: Artificial Intelligence can significantly accelerate drug discovery, enable highly personalized treatments, and strengthen disease surveillance and clinical decision-making.
- Ethical & Human-Centric AI: The Minister stressed that AI adoption must be safe, responsible, and firmly human-centered with strong safeguards for patient privacy. She noted that AI must complement, rather than replace, human clinical judgment.
- Institutional AI Hubs: To move from pilot projects to population-level implementations, the government has established dedicated Centres of Excellence for AI in Healthcare at AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, and AIIMS Rishikesh.
- The PRIP Scheme: She highlighted the ₹5,000 crore PRIP scheme (Promotion of Research and Innovation in Pharma-MedTech Sector) aimed at aggressively strengthening industry-academia collaboration for innovation-led growth.

India’s dominance in generic drugs earned it the 'Pharmacy' title, but ascending the global value chain requires a massive pivot towards core Research & Development (R&D). By integrating cutting-edge AI and heavily funding MedTech innovations, India is strategically positioning itself as a primary hub for pioneering medical science.
