भारत के महानतम इंजीनियरों में से एक और दूरदर्शी राष्ट्र-निर्माता भारत रत्न मोक्षगुंडम विश्वेश्वरैया की जयंती को हर साल 15 सितंबर को देश भर में 'राष्ट्रीय अभियंता दिवस' (National Engineers’ Day) के रूप में मनाया जाता है। यह दिन देश के विकास में इंजीनियरों की परिवर्तनकारी भूमिका को सम्मानित करता है।
